Our Purpose mentoring pastors and leaders to reach a lost world through a revived church
We’re here to train those who want to get back to the basics of where a vibrant Christian life filled with the presence of Christ starts. We’re here to mentor those who are working too hard, and praying too little. We’re here to equip those who desire tools to further their intimacy with the living God. All of this starts with a simple, but honest plea ... “Lord, teach us to pray!” (Luke 11:1)
While our primary focus is leaders, the College of Prayer is for everyone who has desire for greater intimacy with God.
Armin Gesswein, the original visionary for the College of Prayer, used to say “Prayer is so major, we dare not minor in it any longer.” What are you majoring in? No matter where you’re at in your Christian journey, there’s a place for you in the College of Prayer.
Our Strategy reaching a lost world through a revived church
Many groups talk about revival in abstract terms; we are seeing revival happen one life, one local church, one community at a time all over the world. We now have Campuses of the College of Prayer on five continents and over 150 countries.
Some say, "College? I need a kindergarten of prayer?" Don't let the term "College" fool you. There is no such thing as a natural-born pray-er; we are all beginners. We need to start somewhere. At the College of Prayer, you'll discover people just like you who will encourage your passion to seek the Lord and you will receive teaching from some of the best instructors in the world.
In a sense, Jesus started a three-year College of Prayer with His disciples. The early disciples asked, "Lord, teach us to pray!" in Luke 11:1. We have patterned our training after the response Jesus gave them.
Our vision goes beyond prayer; we want to see the unreached peoples of the world reached with the good news of Christ. We are now seeing this happen in many nations where we have College of Prayer Campuses.

Our Beliefs & Values a Christ exalting word & spirit movement
The Upper Room Jesus established was not limited to one people group, but a call to unify His followers hearts and minds to be in one accord. The College of Prayer is a place where we cross denominational, gender, racial, political and generational lines. Our students come from a wide spectrum of Christian denominations including Southern Baptist, Christian & Missionary Alliance, Vineyard, Assembly of God, Messianic, Evangelical Free, PCA, American Baptist, Nazarene and a host of others.
We affirm the Lusanne Covenant and the doctrinal statement of the National Association of Evangelicals.
Christ Exalting – The singular goal of the College of Prayer is for the knowledge of the glory of the Lord to cover the earth as the waters cover the sea.
God's Presence Manifesting – We appreciate God's omnipresence and anticipate His manifest Presence. We exist to lead the church to a fresh encounter with God's manifest presence.
Repentance Facilitating – As we lead students to a fresh encounter of God, we always give preference to the spirit of contrition. The College of Prayer is a safe place for students to engage in life-transforming repentance.
Bible Teaching – The Bible is the Word of God and serves as our only ultimate rule of life and practice.
Kingdom Advancing – We are advancers of Christ's Kingdom. We joyfully serve inter-denominationally throughout the broader Body of Christ.
Satan Evicting – As Christ's Kingdom advances, demonic strongholds are exposed and eradicated. Practical teaching is provided to equip leaders with tools to engage the enemy in the gateways of life.
Local Church Transforming – We are committed to partnering with pastors and local churches, leading them to an upper room, fresh encounter with God.
Nation Discipling – We are passionate about training national leaders and national churches to reach the final unreached peoples of the earth.
Relationship Nurturing – People are God's method. The Kingdom is advanced through Christians in vital union with other Christians. In other words, the Kingdom is advanced along relational lines.
Marriage Rebuilding – We teach husbands and wives to cultivate a robust prayer life with each other. We equip parents to bless their children.
Pastor and Leader Mentoring – As goes pastors and leaders, so goes the Body of Christ. The greatest teaching method was modeled by Christ who met with His followers for three years.
Workplace Leader Empowering – We empower workplace leaders to advance the Kingdom of Christ in their particular spheres of influence in media, arts, sciences, education, medicine, government, legal injustice, and the family.
Intercessor Affirming – The future belongs to the intercessors. We identify, equip and elevate them to their proper place.
Student Empowering – A highlight of every College of Prayer module is when we have opportunity to prayer over, anoint with oil and empower students to fulfill Christ's destiny in their spheres of influence. College-aged students are always encouraged to participate; they infuse a much needed zeal.
Literature Distributing – Writing, publishing and distributing good Christian literature and small group curriculum is a central part of fulfilling our mission.
Our statement of faith comes from the National Association of Evangelicals:
We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.
We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
