Sing the Name

January 30, 2026

"I will sing praise to the name of the LORD, the Most High."  Psalm 7:17

All worship is responding appropriately to the Name.

David was a creative genius- a troubadour who wrote dozens of timeless songs. Sometimes we miss the fact that the fountainhead of his inspiration was the Name. We wrote songs out of an encounter with the Name, about the Name, and most importantly to the Name. For David, the Name was not a theory or even a distant reality; the Name was God Himself.

When David said, I will sing praise to the name of the LORD, he was saying, I will sing to God Himself.

If worship seems dry, empty or pointless, I give you the Name. Without the Name, worship is hollow.

To sing the Name doesn't require a great voice, but it does require a good heart- a heart that encounters the Name.

Father God, today I take the Name as my joy, my source, my song.
