"Those who love your name may exult in you." Psalm 5:11
When the Name touches that place deep inside that holds your affections, you will worship with unrestrained exuberance.
The word exult literally means to jump for joy. David's affection for the Name freed him from social inhibitions, and empowered him to exuberantly and publicly jump for joy in the streets of Jerusalem.
This kind of unrestrained, demonstrative expression was certainly undignified for a king, but social standards didn't dampen his enthusiasm. His vanity and pride had already bowed to the Name, so David was free to now jump for joy. When kings bow before the Name, they don't mind jumping before the Name with unabashed joy.
Are you accustomed to jump with unrestrained joy for the Name?
Better question: has your vanity and pride bowed to the Name?
When the Name touches the seat of your affections, you too will fall in love with the Name. This is the heart of authentic worship.
Father God, drill down deeper in my soul, until your Name touches my affections. Today I bow my arrogance and pride to your Name.
