“So shall they put my name upon the people... and I will bless them.” Numbers 6:27
When you come to Christ, he puts his name on you. Think of it!
The one who gives you your name is the one who defines you. God has rightful authority over you. When you are born again in the Holy Spirit, you receive a new nature-- God's nature. This birthright certainly gives God the right to name you. You become his child and he becomes your Father. And he gives you a new name--his name.
Your name is your identity. It represents your character, your unique personhood.
When God gives you his name, it means that he now defines you. You belong to him. He is your Father, and you are his child and you bear his name.
The better you understand God's name, the better you know yourself- your own identity.
God puts his name on you not to change your identity, but to reveal it. God's name on you brings out your true self-- your new self.
The better you know God's name, the better you know your true identity.
Loving Father, today I receive your Name. I welcome your name. Stamp your name on every cell in my body. I want to carry your name in every area of life.
