His Name, His Worship

April 30, 2026

"I intend to build a house for the name of the LORD my God, as the LORD said to David my father, ‘Your son, whom I will set on your throne in your place, shall build the house for my name.’" 1 Kings 5:5

God is calling his church back to an appropriate appreciation of his name.

When Solomon set himself to build a house of worship, he understood that he was specifically building a house for God's name. More than building a place for people to come, he was building a place for God to come.

He knew that God's name was at the heart of God's worship.

We are a generation that loves worship. We love music. We love to sing. But have we forgotten that it's not about the music or the band; worship is about the name.

Singing is important, but singing without the name lacks authority. Good music is important but music without the name lacks authenticity. Lacks traction. Lacks relevance. Lacks the presence.

True worship engages the name. Exalts the name. Clearly identifies the name.

Loving Father, I repent of singing without the name. Gathering without explicitly identifying and declaring your name. Today, I bring your name into worship. I bring the name of Jesus.
