“When you pray, say, Father." Luke 11:2
When you call God Father, you are inviting him to reparent you.
Father is the name that best defines God. We understand that. But Father is also the name that best defines you.
It is impossible to genuinely call God Father without also identifying yourself as his child. You don't go up to just anyone on the street and randomly call them father. Neither do you randomly call God Father. Father implies a love relationship of unique origin. And that's the point.
In case you haven't yet realized it, Jesus is a genius. No one is better qualified to teach you to pray than Jesus. When his disciples asked him, Lord, teach us to pray, he smiled, and gave them the mother-load of all secrets. It was one word--Father. And today Jesus gives you the mother-load of all prayer secrets. Father.
Father defines you as much as it defines God. Father invites you into a love relationship with God, and Father invites God into a love relationship with you.
Here is a six word prayer that will forever change your life. It's a prayer I pray every day.
Father, reparent me in Jesus name.
